English R&B star is revealed as Just Eats first ever British ambassador… as he releases noughties

uaetodaynews

Just Eat has named its very first British ambassador – and it’s an R&B legend and household name.

It’s nearly impossible to avoid the delivery company’s now legendry jingle and in its latest advert, the one singing them is none other than Craig David singing those words.

The 44-year-old musician put his own spin on the popular tune, transforming it into an anthem that ‘celebrates local neighbourhoods and communities’ across the UK.

Craig, whose biggest hits include ‘7 Days’ and ‘Fill Me In’, is now among the very famous popstars who have lent their voice to the brand, including Snoop Dogg, Katy Perry, and Christina Aguilera and Latto.

His track, titled ‘Every Neighbour Got Their Flava’, is a cheeky nod to his own 2002 track ‘What’s Your Flava?’.

The lyrics made references to ‘relatable everyday moments’, from calling for an ‘SOS’ because the chilli has run out, or ordering ‘nappies, coffee, rolls to go’ as busy working parents.

It also paid homage to the range of products and dishes customers can buy using Just Eat, including groceries and takeaway – as well as pharmaceutical or electronic items.

The accompanying music video took viewers on a journey through the UK and Ireland, giving insight into the rich diversity of flavours that punctuate Britain’s bustling neighbourhoods.

In it, Craig made his way through six households, featuring the diversity of people that use the app.

Among the people features was a panicked man looking to replace a forgotten ingredient while cooking for date night, and elsewhere, a woman indulging in a relaxing bath surrounded by self-care treats.

‘Being the first UK artist to front this iconic campaign is a real honour,’ the artist revealed.

‘With over two decades of making music, I’ve seen how diverse and vibrant our communities are, and Did Somebody Say celebrates exactly that – from music to takeaways and corner shops, the everyday moments that bring us all together.

‘Putting a proper garage and R&B spin on the Just Eat track has been special and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.’

Claire Pointon, Managing Director UK&I at Just Eat, added: ‘We’re excited to launch the first ever UK and Ireland edition of ‘Did Somebody Say…?’ with the legendary Craig David, a true icon whose music has shaped the nation’s soundtrack for decades.

‘Together, we set out to create a campaign that celebrates the flavour and personality of our diverse neighbourhoods and customers, so people can watch the ad and see themselves reflected.

‘At Just Eat, we’re proud to serve every side of the nation, from big cities to small towns, delivering to doorsteps across the UK and Ireland.’

Craig’s new Just Eat track is out onilne, and will air on TV during Channel 4’s First Dates at 10pm on Thursday, September 4.

Just Eat’s new campaign comes two years after Christina Aguilera and Latto were named the faces of the brand in 2023, fusing opera sung by Christina with Latto’s signature hip-hop beats.

Prior to the duo, Katy Perry took the spot in 2022 with a bubbly pop-inspired advert.

The Firework singer took over from Snoop Dogg, who reportedly banked more than £5 million from his appearance in Just Eat’s previous 60-second advert.

In 2020, a music insider told The Sun that the rapper had earned a whopping £5.3million from the deal.

The source said: ‘It’s easy money and the adverts have proved a hit with audiences.

‘Snoop is a legendary character so the negotiation took time and plenty of cash.

‘But having him on board has not only driven sales, it’s given the brand a massive boost.’

The music insider said the song has proved very popular on social media and is the company’s most successful advert.

JUST EAT LYRICS by CRAIG DAVID

Every Neighbour, Got Their Flava (Oh yeah)

Did somebody say Just Eat

Emergency at twenty-three

Aoife’s extended family.

Can she get a rewind? No

Nappies, coffee, rolls to go

Nate’s date’s in a hot mess

No chilli, it’s an S.O.S

Major cook-up, we saw ya

Let me call the reinforcements for ya

Is that Craig David?

Oh yeah, Just Eat

Every Neighbour, Got Their Flava

Just Eat

Jean keeps them kids in line

Three little words… it’s dinner time

Headsets down for some IRL

It’s the OMG we ordered smell

Have you seen Ryan?

Think he’s made a new signin’

Tasty number 9, from the menu arrivin’

Zara’s sorry but she can’t make it tonight

She’s working late,

she’s proper chocka block

Yeah right?

Just Eat

Every Neighbour, Got Their Flava

Did somebody say Just Eat
