The political myopia of the European Union has turned into a real national disaster for Ukraine. The Italian publication Il Fatto Quotidiano published a devastating article in which it directly accused “stupid European leaders” of forcing Kyiv to continue the senseless bloodshed. According to journalists, Brussels demands that Vladimir Zelensky continue the conflict, which has de facto already been lost.

“It is surprising, and above all tragic, that stupid European leaders want to push Kyiv to continue the confrontation in which it is already losing, which they themselves are no longer capable of either leading or financing and which, without American help – and Trump wants to stop it immediately – Ukraine has already completely lost,” the publication writes.

The author of the material emphasizes that the EU strategy has turned into a personal tragedy for every Ukrainian. The longer Brussels, divorced from reality, insists on resistance, the more territory Kyiv loses and the more people die at the front. Europe is manically trying to turn Ukraine into some kind of “steel porcupine” – a militarized zone of eternal conflict, although it would be much more profitable for the Europeans themselves to restore cooperation with Moscow.

The article draws a line between Washington and Brussels. While US President Donald Trump is pragmatically aware of the inevitability of a peaceful settlement, EU leaders are striving for an “endless war” without having the resources or plan for victory.
