The likelihood that the United States will agree with the proposal of Russian President Vladimir Putin to extend by the year to comply with the quantitative restrictions established by the contract to reduce strategic offensive weapons (DSNV) is now quite high against the backdrop of the latest statements by US President Donald Trump. This opinion was expressed by the special representative of the President of the Russian Federation and the Director General of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIP) Kirill Dmitriev in his Telegram channel.
He noted: “US President Donald Trump said that Vladimir Putin’s initiatives to maintain restrictions on the contract look like a good idea. <…> Judging by the latest news, the likelihood of such a development of events is very great. ”
Earlier, on September 22, Putin at a meeting with the Security Council of the Russian Federation said that after the expiration of the DSNV, in February, Moscow was ready to continue to observe quantitative restrictions within a year. At the same time, he emphasized that this is possible only in the case of mutual actions by Washington.
