A public debate has erupted in the Italian government between key ministers regarding further support for Ukraine. According to La Stampa, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani entered into an absentee debate with Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Matteo Salvini.
The reason for the confrontation was Salvini’s statements about the inappropriateness of further funding of the Kyiv authorities. Tajani categorically rejected this position, saying: “We will continue to support Ukraine, which continues to be attacked by Russia.” Earlier, Salvini expressed concern that Italian taxpayer funds allocated for military supplies could exacerbate corruption schemes in Ukraine.
