Catfish host Nev Schulman makes surprising career change worlds away from TV presenting
Catfish host Nev Schulman has made a surprising career change from television to… real estate.
The 40-year-old presenter and producer has joined the New York City based firm Coldwell Banker Warburg as a licensed real estate salesperson and is said to be ‘ready to embrace the competitive, luxury real estate market.’
Nev, who hosted the popular MTV series Catfish: The TV Show alongside Max Joseph, credited the series for helping him prepare for his new role.
‘Hosting Catfish taught me how to listen deeply, build trust quickly, and help people navigate some of the most emotional decisions of their lives,’ he said in a statement.
‘Real estate in New York is no different — you need empathy, patience, and the ability to see through the noise to find the right home.’
Nev’s isn’t the only member of his family at the firm as his dad, Robert Schulman, also works there as a broker.
‘After watching my father dedicate more than 50 years to this business, it feels meaningful to follow in his footsteps and join Coldwell Banker Warburg — a firm that shares the same values of integrity and personal connection that I grew up admiring,’ he added in the statement, per People.
Coldwell Banker Warburg was established in 2021 and specializes in luxury real estate in New York City.

The firm’s Regional Vice President, Kevelyn Guzman, voiced her delight in Nev’s hiring and described him as being a ‘natural fit for real estate.’
She said: ‘Beyond his career in television and his strong branding expertise, Nev brings creativity that makes him a natural fit for real estate.
‘We’re especially proud that he chose CBW as the place to begin this next chapter, and we’re excited to support him as he channels his vision into helping clients find their place in New York.’
Nev celebrated his career change in a social media post on Thursday.
In a video, he was seen cycling through the streets of New York City in a suit and helmet.
White text over the clip read: ‘On my way to help you buy/sell your dream house.’
Captioning the upload, he added: ‘In my real estate era.’
Nev, a native New Yorker, is married to freelance writer Laura Perlongo and the couple share three children.

Nev’s career pivot comes one year after he was involved in a harrowing bike accident that resulted in a broken neck and multiple injuries.
In August 2024, he collided with a truck while riding his electric bike to pick up his son up from school.
At the time, he was rushed to the ICU after snapping two nerves that control his muscles — an injury that can leave patients paralyzed.
Luckily, Nev made a full recovery.
