Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro show up in One UI 8.5 while firmware testing starts
Samsung is preparing for an early launch of the Galaxy Buds4 and Buds4 Pro, as these devices have just been spotted in a One UI 8.5 leak.
The Korean tech giant is working on the next-gen premium earbuds after introducing the Galaxy Buds Core and Galaxy Buds3 FE. Samsung’s upcoming premium hearable lineup will introduce two variants: vanilla and Pro.
Galaxy Buds4 and Buds4 Pro emerge in One UI 8.5
A leaked One UI 8.5 build has early signs of the Galaxy Buds4 and Buds4 Pro, as per AndroidAuthority. The software build listed SM-R540 and SM-R640, which would be announced as the Buds4 and Buds4 Pro.
While the One UI 8.5 build didn’t list the products by their names, the model numbers refer to the next generation. To be noted, the Galaxy Buds3 and Buds3 Pro carry model numbers SM-R530 and SM-R630.
In addition to the emergence of model numbers, software testing has also begun.
Firmware testing kicked off
As discovered by Alfaturk, Samsung has started testing a new firmware with build version R640XXU0AYI1. The model number confirms it’s being developed for the upcoming Galaxy Buds4 Pro earbuds.
It’s a regular process that takes place before the product unveiling. The build version’s last alphanumeric digits will change throughout the testing period as the company’s developers bring refinements.
Samsung could announce the Buds4 and Buds4 Pro at the Galaxy Unpacked 2026. The new earbuds may share a stage with the Galaxy S26 series. These devices may retain the stem form factor while improving audio features.
