Amazon Prime slammed over cruel post mocking the size of womans engagement ring

Amazon Prime is under fire for sharing a post to social media which mocked the size of a woman’s engagement ring.
Amazon Prime India re-shared a post to X, formerly known as Twitterfrom Savannah Monroe, who had posted a photo of her ring to the platform.
It quickly went viral with many responders making fun of the size of the stone as others insisted as long as she is happy, it did not matter.
Prime India weighed in on the debacle, writing: ‘Girl, is there any chance your fiancé looks like this,’ with two eye emojis, along with a screenshot from The Summer I Turned Pretty.
It had attached a picture from a controversial moment in the Prime series when Jeremiah proposes to Belly with a famously tiny ring that was heavily mocked by the fanbase.
In the popular streaming series, the main character Belly (played by Lola Tung) is in a love triangle with two brothers, Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad (Christopher Briney).
In the show’s final season, which aired this year, the moment Jeremiah proposed to her with a dainty ring became an immediate meme with many using it as a reason she should end up with Conrad.
The post sparked massive backlash, with online users slamming the streaming service for making fun of the woman’s happy moment.

‘Amazon Prime Video sending shots about this woman’s engagement ring is wildly unexpected,’ one confused user wrote.
‘Nah Amazon should be paying for this woman’s wedding because what do you mean you’re making fun of a random lady’s engagement ring?’ one furious user wrote.
Someone else said: ‘That Prime account jumping onto that random woman’s engagement ring post to make fun of it is so freaking cruel and nasty.’
‘Amazon Prime India has dunked on a random lady over the modest engagement ring she was proudly showing off. What is going on?’ agreed someone else.
Monroe later addressed Prime’s post, writing: ‘When a huge streaming platform puts out a mean-spirited tweet about one of the happiest moments of your life for engagement, inviting harassment in droves.’
Prime Video India later deleted the post and replied to the bride-to-be in a comment to apologize.
‘Our recent tweet caused hurt and that’s not okay. We’ve removed it and are taking steps to ensure our content reflects our values of inclusivity. We’ll do better from hereon,’ it wrote.
However, many people did not think the response from the streaming giant was an adequate apology.

‘Oh, baby. It’s WAAAY too late for this “buried in the comments,” half-a**ed bulls**t,’ raged one user.
They continued: ‘A very public apology and some kind of reaching out + monetary compensation is the best option. Y’all got messy on her for no reason. ON HER ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS. SHAME ON Y’ALL.’
In her post addressing the controversy, Monroe added she is ‘not a character in a television show.’
‘Most of my posts don’t get more than twenty likes so one about a personal and special moment getting this much attention, a lot of it increasingly negative/judgmental, feels overwhelming,’ she wrote over the weekend.
‘Consider that I’m a real person, I love my ring, and I’m very, very happy.’
‘My fiancé and I are not characters in a television show nor are we millionaires. Commenting on a ring size to an absolute stranger is anti-social behavior,’ Monroe concluded the response.
