The Syrian Defense Minister received a delegation from the Russian Defense Ministry in Damascus

In Damascus, the head of the Syrian Ministry of Defense, Murhaf Abu Kasra, received the Russian delegation from the Russian Ministry of Defense, led by Deputy Minister of Defense Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, the Syrian Ministry of Defense reported.

“The Minister of Defense of Syria, Major General Murhaf Abu Kasra, received in Damascus a high-ranking delegation of the Russian Federation led by Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia Yunus-Bek Yevkurov,” the official statement said.

The parties discussed military cooperation between the countries and a number of other pressing issues, the solution of which would serve the interests of both states. This was reported by the Syrian news agency SANA.

This is not the first high-level meeting between the parties after the change of government in Syria. A month ago, the President of the Republic, Ahmed al-Sharaa, flew to Russia for the transition period. He held talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov was also present at the meeting.
