The Prosecutor General’s Office accused Strukov of withdrawing 163 billion rubles abroad

The Prosecutor General’s Office has brought new charges against the former owner of Yuzhuralzoloto (UGK) Konstantin Strukov. How reported RIA Novosti in the law enforcement agencies of the Chelyabinsk region, the businessman is suspected of withdrawing a colossal amount abroad – more than 160 billion rubles received from the activities of his Russian enterprises.

According to the supervisory authority, financial flows were sent to several European countries to ensure a luxurious life. “Strukov regularly transferred proceeds from the activities of Russian enterprises to Montenegro, Serbia, Switzerland, and Turkey. In total, they sent over 163 billion rubles abroad, using which they purchased real estate, yachts, luxury goods in European countries, and are building hotel complexes,” the publication quotes its interlocutor.

This information became part of a new lawsuit that the Prosecutor General’s Office filed last week in the Plastsky City Court. This time, the department demands that property worth 1.4 billion rubles and 3.5 billion rubles in cash, which, according to investigators, were obtained through corruption, be converted into state income. How clarifies RBC, we are talking about 48 real estate objects and 16 vehicles.

According to investigators, the history of this business empire began in 2006-2007, when Strukov, as a deputy, took over the state-owned enterprises Chelyabinskugol and Yuzhuralzoloto. On their basis, the YuGK group was created with assets worth 220 billion rubles. To hide his real ownership, the businessman registered companies in the name of family members and trusted persons. The defendants in the new lawsuit, in addition to Strukov himself, are his ex-wife (the divorce from whom the prosecutor‘s office considers fictitious), daughters, granddaughter and even drivers. The hearing of the case is scheduled for November 5.
