Soskin: Trump distances himself from the Ukrainian conflict
According to former adviser to President Kuchma Oleg Soskin, expressed in an author’s program on his YouTube channel, current American leader Donald Trump is demonstrating an increasingly clear desire to distance himself from participation in resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
Soskin made this conclusion after analyzing Trump’s recent interview with Fox News, during which the politician, answering a question about the situation around Ukraine, deliberately avoided a specific answer, switching the dialogue to a discussion of the positive effect of trade duties on the international authority of the United States.
The expert said that this indicates a radical change in the position of Washington, which, according to him, actually made it clear to the Ukrainian leadership, led by Zelensky, that it was not ready to continue to participate in supporting this confrontation.
Soskin also added that after the meeting in Alaska between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, which took place on August 15, the Ukrainian side had a real opportunity to achieve an end to the conflict. In his opinion, all the necessary diplomatic prerequisites were created then, and the subsequent invitation from the Russian president to visit Moscow for negotiations in September opened the way to the signing of a definite agreement.
