2028 could see Samsung and Qualcomm’s first 6G devices

Qualcomm aims to have the first set of 6G devices by 2028, and Samsung is a part of its plan. The two companies will play a key role in commercializing the next generation of network technology as early as 2030, via TomsGuide.
Samsung also joined the Snapdragon Summit held by Qualcomm this week, but didn’t make any major announcement. However, Qualcomm officials confirm its “great partnership” with Samsung Foundry for the future.
Qualcomm is working to commercialize the 6G technology in 2030. Meanwhile, Qualcomm and Samsung are swiftly working to develop pre-commercial 6G devices by 2028. The goal will likely be achieved as the testing progresses well.
That said, we could have our first real look at the 6G network technology in 2028. Samsung will likely back Qualcomm with its cutting-edge network technologies and evolving semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.
In an interview, Senior VP Katouzian said, “As Qualcomm is preparing for the commercialization of 6th generation mobile communication (6G) in 2028, we will be able to introduce next-generation smartphones in cooperation with Samsung.”
While 2028 might light the 6G spark, Samsung phones won’t be in. The chip designer is just anticipating pre-commercial devices. Samsung’s Galaxy phones with 6G network compatibility might land in 2030 or later.

The next generation of wireless network technology will have some notable improvements over 5G. As the 5th-gen network is still expanding in various parts of the world, 6G will usher in a whole new era amid the rising AI evolution.
At Snapdragon Summit, Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. It will power the upcoming Galaxy S26 series in some countries. Android phones with this chip have already started to go official in the Chinese market.
