Taylor Swift-themed event branded Fyre Festival 2.0 as pop star’s dancer caught up in ‘scam’

It promised to be a weekend of 'music, fun, and magical moments' celebrating everything Taylor Swift - but ended up being dubbed the Fyre Festival 2.0.

A 'Taylor Weekend,' organized by her fans with Swift having no association with the event, was slated to be held early October in Orlando, Florida.

However, the weekend was abruptly canceled after one of the event's main draw cards - Eras Tour dancer Kameron Saunders - blasted the event for false advertising.

The gathering, which was meant to be held between October 3 and 5, promised a 'special lunch and performance' by Saunders, as well as a weekend of Taylor-themed parties.

But in a lengthy post shared to Instagram on Sunday, the Eras Tour dancer confirmed he was never going to attend the event, did not consent and was unaware they were using his name to sell tickets, which were priced up to $300.

'It was been bought to my attention that there is a fan set to host what's being called "Taylor Weekend" on October 5 in Orlando,' Saunders wrote in the post.

'They have been charging fans crazy prices for a multitude of events but chief among them was/is the opportunity to meet me through a luncheon, meet and greet and a performance. This is lie,' he wrote on the post.

Saunders then said he is not associated with the event, which also reportedly claimed ticket would include a live video call or prerecorded video from Taylor Swift, and will not be in Orlando.

'I am so sorry to any of you who have paid money with such high hopes of my being in attendance but that is not the case,' he continued.

Saunders thanked fans who bought the event to his attention, reiterating he will not be at the event and he has no idea if it will still go ahead.

'Again, I am so sorry to those of you who have been taken advantage of in my name. As a rule of thumb, if you don't see ME post something about me, assume it's a scam of some kind.'

The Taylor Weekend website, which is locked by password, also shared an update confirming the event will not longer go ahead.

'We were just as surprised by this news as all of you,' the website reads.

'A deposit and contract are already in place, and we took steps to verify everything prior, believing it was secure. We are now working quickly to trace where the funds were directed and determine the best path forward.

'We sincerely apologize for receiving this information at the same time as you and appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this situation.'

The Daily Mail has reached out to Kameron Saunders, representatives of Taylor Swift, and the organizers of the Taylor Weekend for comment.

As per an update shared by the Taylor Weekend event, they claim they had a contract in place with Kameron's 'old management team' and they were 'blind sighted' by him not attending and had reportedly paid a deposit.

However, Saunders reposted the update saying he has only ever had one management team.

A post shared to Facebook in February by event organizer GenZTrendy stated the event was fan-organized, and was not affiliated with the Blank Space singer.

'Important: Swiftie Parties and Entertainment is a fan-organized event, not officially affiliated with Taylor Swift or her management.

'All rights to intellectual property are reserved to their respective owners. This is an independent fan celebration, dedicated to appreciating Taylor's music and creating unforgettable fan experiences,' the post said.

Furious fans took to social media to share their disbelief over the event.

'Omg? It’s like Fyre Fest but Taylor themed,' one user wrote.

Another agreed, writing: 'Omg our very own Fyre Festival (Swifties version).'

'No way??? An entirely different level of evil,' declared someone else.
