Country music star Drake White and his wife Alex have announced that their baby daughter died just minutes after being born at 29 weeks.

The devastated couple, who married in June 2014, revealed their little girl, Della Elizabeth White, died ‘peacefully’ on August 31.

They shared news of their heartbreak in a joint statement posted on social media, adding that their late daughter weighed just 3lbs 3.5oz.

Alongside a black and white photo of them kissing their newborn, the grieving couple added that Della died just 20 minutes after her delivery.

‘The Lord has been so near and close to us during this difficult time,’ they said.

‘He has held us up and sustained us through it all. We are heartbroken and soul tired, but we know we will get through this difficult time with the strength, peace, and joy that only our Heavenly Father can provide.

‘May Della be held in the arms of Jesus until we see her again someday.’

Concluding their post, the couple referenced two Bible verses from Psalm.

One read: ‘The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. – Psalm 34:18.’

‘I am dying from my grief; my years are shortened by sadness,’ read the second. ‘Misery has drained my strength; I am wasting away from within.

‘But I am trusting you, O Lord, saying, ‘You are my God!’ My future is in your hands. -Psalm 31:10, 14-15.’

Tributes have flooded in for the pair.

Singer-songwriter Jessie James Decker wrote: ‘I am so sorry. I love you and I’m praying for you all.

‘No one should ever go through this kind of pain. I know your sweet girl will always be in your heart and watching over you.’

Fellow country singer Lauren Alaina added:’My hearts aches for you. Sending so much love and prayer your way.’

Social media influencer Hayley Hubbard penned: ‘This is devastating, I am so sorry, we are praying for you both and your family.’

‘May Della be held in the arms of Jesus until we see her again someday.’

The couple, who have been married since 2014, are also parents to two-year-old William

Drake and Alex confirmed to People magazine in May that they were expecting their second child together.

‘We were able to conceive through IVF and had our frozen embryo transfer in March,’ Alex told the publication.

‘We found out we were pregnant 10 days later and are due in November.’

They are also parents to William Hawk, two.
