One UI 8.5 leak reveals bold camera UI revamp over One UI 8

One UI 8.5 leak reveals bold camera UI revamp over One UI 8

Samsung started rolling out the One UI 8 update this week and jumped to One UI 8.5 development, which would introduce a new camera UI. In the meantime, the leaked firmware has also confirmed that the next major upgrade will be One UI 9.

One UI 8.5 will continue to improve the user interface for Samsung users, and a new camera UI will likely be adopted in the software. The company will launch this software next year, but leaks are already spilling secrets, via TeraBlack.

Camera UI revamp

Samsung’s One UI 8.5 update may tweak the camera viewfinder ratio a little. The preview screen will stretch to the zoom buttons in the application. For this, the solid background layer will be dropped, but for good.

The stock camera app’s UI components will likely adopt a glass effect. As shown in the leaked screenshot, the zoom buttons now appear with a glass UI. The toolbar expansion key has also adopted the design language.

It’s a welcome change, but the app has room for improvements. The viewfinder currently covers half of the portion of the zoom buttons. It should cover the buttons entirely so they look even better than the current state.

Other aspects, such as menu placement, remain unchanged in One UI 8.5. It looks like Samsung is aggressively focusing on glass UI and similar effects to compete with the iOS 26’s brand-new Liquid Glass design philosophy.

As the development progresses, more such inputs will surface online. Samsung users can look forward to an uplifted experience in 2026. However, the update may not land in the first quarter despite its official debut, probably in February.
