James Middleton shares previously unseen pictures on fourth wedding anniversary – showing off his wife’s touching ‘something borrowed’
James Middleton, brother of Catherine, Princess of Wales, has shared previously unseen pictures from his wedding to Alizée Thévenet to mark the couple’s fourth anniversary.
The youngest of the three Middleton siblings, James, 38, married French financial analyst Alizée Thévenet, 35, on September 11, 2021 in Bormes-les-Mimosas, a medieval village in southeastern France.
On Thursday, exactly four years after the couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony, businessman, author, and mental health advocate James shared two new photographs from their special day, which was reportedly attended by the Prince and Princess of Wales and their three children.
Posted to Instagram, the first picture shows Alizée and James holding hands as they emerge from their wedding venue to a shower of confetti, after finally becoming husband wife, after postponing the ceremony twice due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
What appears to be the beaming couple’s wedding car, decked in greenery, is visible in the foreground.
The second image is a stunning romantic shot, showing the newlyweds from behind as they walk along a sandy beach hand in hand, against the perfect backdrop of a beautiful sunset.
Alizée looked breathtaking in her mother-in-law Carole Middleton‘s off-the-shoulder wedding dress on the couple’s big day. At the time, she told Hello! magazine: ‘My something borrowed was in fact my dress from my mother-in-law Carole who last wore it 41 years ago on her wedding day in June 1980.’
James’s celebratory post was warmly received by his thousands of fans, amassing 16,500 likes and attracting 290 comments from well-wishers.

Just two years after tying the knot, Alizée gave birth to the couple’s first child, a son named Inigo Gabriel Middleton, who will celebrate his second birthday in nine days’ time.
In August, James shared a touching message for his ‘adventurous’ and ‘cheeky’ son ahead of the toddler’s second birthday.
The father-of-one posted a heartwarming video of Inigo wandering through the countryside with Alizée and their dogs.
The tot was seen throwing sticks into a small creek and even trying to push his mother into the water.
In the short clip, Inigo donned a khaki green dungarees romper, a blue T-shirt, and a sun hat to cover his face from the summer sunshine.
Reflecting on Inigo’s upcoming birthday on September 21, James took to Instagram to post the candid clip alongside a heartfelt message celebrating the joy his son has brought into their lives.
James wrote in his caption: ‘My adventurous (and cheeky) little boy how are you nearly two already.
‘Everyone says it goes fast…but I didn’t realise it would be this fast’.
James, who is known for his love of the outdoors and his close bond with his dogs, rarely shares such intimate glimpses of family life.

So the sweet video offered his followers a rare look into the wholesome adventures that the family enjoy.
James’s followers rushed to the comments section to share their best wishes for Inigo – with one noting he would have a blast with his cousin, the Prince and Princess of Wales’ youngest son, Prince Louis.
One person wrote: ‘I can imagine him and Prince Louis having a very fun mischievous time!’
Another said: ‘So precious. Thank you for sharing such a sweet clip of your darling family.’
Someone else wrote: ‘Gosh, he really is getting so big. AND he gets around so very well.’
A fourth added: ‘I love his spirit and adventurous nature.’
Since his marriage, James has occasionally posted glimpses of his and Alizée’s rural life together, often surrounded by dogs, fields and fresh air.

Many rushed to the comments and were quick to flood the post with birthday wishes for the tot
James, who founded dog food company Ella & Co and has been open about his past struggles with depression, has previously credited nature, animals and now fatherhood with transforming his mental health.
In April, James shared another sweet glimpse into family life with his son Inigo and wife Alizée, this time to celebrate his own birthday.
Posting a sweet home video to his Instagram account, James filmed his 18-month-old happily eating breakfast outside, while two of their dogs sat on a bench nearby.
A very cheery Inigo then took to the seat of a red tractor, while Alizée watched on with the family’s dogs.
Wearing a personalised gilet which bore the logo James&Ella – the name of James’s dog food company – Inigo threw some feed to the family’s chickens.
Sharing the rare glimpse into family life, James reflected that there was ‘no better birthday present’ than spending time with his family.
He wrote in his caption: ‘Thank you, 38. I’m right where I’m meant to be. There is no better birthday present than that ❤️
‘Fresh air, wagging tails, and the wild, beautiful rhythm of family life.

‘Moving in sync, tails wagging. On a journey, with Inigo at the wheel, headed wherever life takes us.
‘Filled with joy, love and just the right amount of chaos.’
James has frequently shared his love of dogs, and currently owns six: Zulu, Inka, Luna, Mabel, Nala and Isla.
James is a breeder of cocker spaniels, and even gifted Kate and William his beloved black spaniel Orla in 2020, who has since appeared in several posts shared by the family – including Kate’s cancer recovery video last year.
He wrote a book about his beloved pup Ella, who passed away in 2023, and recently released a book called ‘Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life’, which has been described as a ‘love letter to man’s best friend’.
At the end of March, James shared an adorable tribute to his wife Alizée to celebrate Mother’s Day.
Alizée looked as glamorous in a red knitted jumper as she stood enjoying the English countryside sunshine.
She was holding Inigo, who, dressed in a knitted jumper with embroidered tractors, faced away from the camera.
James captioned the photo: ‘Happy Mothers to all the amazing Mothers but an extra bit of love for this one.’
