How women are using perfume as ‘man repellent’ in a bid to avoid cheaters

Women are flocking to TikTok to react to a viral video where a creator called perfumeman repellent.’

Creator Mikee shared a recirculating video from Female Comedy Clips where comedian Rick Glassman, 41, boldly declared, ‘We don’t want you to wear perfume. We don’t like it. It smells like poison.’

In the original clip, which is making the rounds again with commentary, the podcast host who starred on the NBC sitcom Undateable says, ‘it’s a chemical’ and ‘nobody wants it,’ before adding, ‘if you found a way to spray one time… that could work. We’re talking about pheromones. What are you hiding?’

Mikee then heavily doused herself in a scent and wrote on top of the video, ‘Spray that perfume.’

She captioned the response, ‘You hear that ladies!!! Perfume is man repellent!!!’

The creator’s 70,000 followers quickly shared their own opinions about fragrances and disagreed vehemently, saying they would be wearing perfume proudly and for an important reason.

‘I think it’s because their wife could smell it later,’ one popular comment claimed.

Now, women are insisting on spraying perfume before dates to guarantee their gentleman caller will go home smelling like them to make sure they don’t have a partner.

‘I think you’re right. It’s the same effect of wearing glitter, it’s evidence,’ another woman agreed.

The commenter was referencing the popular trend where single women would go on dates covered in glitter to guarantee they were meeting men who weren’t married.

The unexpected beauty trend took off last year, as women embraced shimmering body spray because if they ended up getting intimate with the man, the glitter would be all over him – revealing to his wife that he’d been with another woman.

One commenter suggested wearing perfume with glitter to combine the best of both worlds.

Another referenced a K-pop song called No Perfume On You about a man telling his ‘side chick not to wear perfume because his girlfriend can smell on him. In the music video he buys the side chick the same perfume at the end.’

Many women explained that they weren’t thinking of attracting men when they chose perfume and instead chose smells they liked or even that they thought other women would enjoy.

‘The hilarious thing is them thinking we’re wearing it for them AT ALL!!’ one woman said.

Some said there was a double standard, as plenty of men enjoy strong cologne and body sprays.

‘Meanwhile I’m fighting for my life in the back of an Uber with a male driver dripping in cologne,’ one woman commented.

Others said wearing perfume was a surefire way to attract a man, with one woman replying, ‘Sir… I get stopped in public, complimented and asked what I’m wearing because it’s so alluring.’

Women have previously shared the ‘showstopper’ perfumes that have led to men stopping them in the street and offering up compliments.

Some favorites included Prada Paradoxe, Juliette Has A Gun Not a Perfume, Glossier You, and Parfums De Marly Delina.

Some women on social media flock to Reddit to share their favorite fragrances. Many swear by sweet, sugary vanilla scents, saying Kayali’s Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar and La Belle Le Parfum by Jean Paul Gaultier are their ‘sexiest man magnet’ fragrances.
