A family is mourning the loss of a new father who was shot and killed during a golfing trip to Wisconsin with loved ones.

Giovanni “Mike” Robinson, 32, from Ontario, Canada, was identified as the victim of a fatal shooting by the Sheboygan Falls Police Department in a press release shared on Thursday, Sept. 25.

According to the department, the incident happened on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at approximately 12:08 a.m. local time, in the 600 Block of Monroe Street.

A suspect has not yet been identified, but they were reportedly driving a small, dark colored SUV at the time of the shooting. The motive for the shooting remains unclear.

“To maintain the integrity of the ongoing investigation, limited details will be released at this time,” police said.

The victim’s brother Jacob Robinson, told WTMJ-TV 4 that Giovanni was walking back to his hotel after having dinner and drinks to celebrate his first hole-in-one at Whistling Straits Golf Course when he was shot and killed.

The month prior, he welcomed his first child, a daughter named Farrah Margaret Robinson, with his wife Rachel.

“He was a very good man, and he was an awesome brother. He was an even better husband,” Jacob told the news station. “And he was going to be an amazing dad. He was excited to be a father.”

“Just this senseless act has taken away so many aspects. Not only a brother, but a son and a husband, and now my little niece — she’s only 5 weeks old — and she’s never really going to ever know her true father,” he added.

Jacob said he wants his brother’s name remembered, and he wants justice for his sibling’s death.

A GoFundMe fundraiser organized by Amanda and Daniella Apostolakos states that “Authorities are doing their best to catch the monster that took his life.”

The two, who note that they are Giovanni’s cousins, remembered him as someone who loved hockey. He was a member of the Ontario Hockey League and spent time in Germany playing for the Hannover Scorpions.

“He was a true family man, always making sure to spend every spare second that he could with them. Even when he couldn’t be around physically, he would make sure he was there through FaceTime to be part of every event and gathering. Nothing filled a room like his smile and quick wit,” his cousins wrote.

They also shared his love story with his wife Rachel, whom he met in 2017 and married in 2022. Those who knew him best said Giovanni was looking forward to fatherhood.

“Mike was so excited to become a Father, constantly asking family and friends questions and looking for advice to prepare so that he would be ready. He was the proudest when Farrah arrived, showing her off with the biggest smile you could ever imagine,” his family said.

“He dove right into his new role of ‘Dad’ and was a natural, just like we all knew he would be. It is the most heartbreaking to know he will never be able to hold his baby girl again.”

The Sheboygan Falls Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding this incident to contact them at 920-467-7902.
