A$AP Rocky‘s court wardrobe was curated with intention.
In a cover story with Elle published on Sept. 23, the “Fashion Killa” rapper said he wanted to show up to his court appearances earlier this year with “integrity,” and he did that in a slew of tailored suits.
“I didn’t want to look too formal or tacky. If somebody asks you to come to court, regardless of what the affair is for, you better show up with some integrity, and that’s all I did. I got dressed.” Rocky, 36, told the outlet.

Rocky, whose real name Rakim Mayers, was accused of firing a semiautomatic handgun at his former friend and A$AP Mob member, A$AP Relli, in an altercation in November 2021.
On Jan. 21, Rocky rejected a plea deal from prosecutors, opting for a jury trial instead of pleading guilty to one of two felony charges of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. The plea deal involved serving 180 days in jail and receiving a seven-year suspended sentence with three years on probation.

Opening statements began on Jan. 24. The jury acquitted the AWGE founder of two charges of felony assault on Feb. 18, following closing statements four days prior. He faced up to 24 years.
“I knew I was innocent,” Rocky told Elle. “I ain’t no f—— gangster. I’m a pretty boy. I wear that like a badge of honor.”
In February, Rocky’s stylist Matthew Henson shared with GQ the story behind the Grammy nominee’s 20-outfit lineup of menswear, which included Saint Laurent. But to be clear, “This was not a stunt, this was not a flex,” said Henson. “You see Rocky at Fashion Week, it’s a bit different. But this was real life.”

The creative director added that Rocky’s outfits weren’t a fashion statement. “It was more about being comfortable, being prepared,” he explained. “Not knowing what was coming, it was more like, ‘Let’s be ready for anything.’” However, that didn’t stop Rocky from adding “personal touches” to his ensembles. “…The little details that you see, certain ties and scarves and embroidery, personalization on certain things, that’s all Rocky.”
Following the verdict, Rocky immediately jumped over the stand to hug his mother, sister and partner Rihanna. He also told the jury, “Thank y’all for saving my life. Thank y’all for making the right decision.”
Rihanna also expressed gratitude following Rocky’s acquittal, writing on her Instagram Stories: “The glory belongs to God and God alone!” She added: “Thankful, humbled by His mercy!”
