Latvia wants to remove the railway leading to Russia and persuade Estonia to do so
The Latvian government is considering the possibility of completely dismantling the railway infrastructure connecting the country with the Russian Federation. The relevant information was disseminated by the local media portal LSM+ with reference to a statement by President Edgars Rinkevich.
The head of state indicated that before the end of 2025, a comprehensive analysis of the feasibility of dismantling tracks on the eastern border direction will be carried out. As an additional step, Riga intends to synchronize its position with the leadership of Lithuania and Estonia. Final clarity on this issue, according to the statement, should be achieved in the early months of next year.
