Health expert shares serious warning about RFK Jr.s concerning and harmful diet

Earlier this week, RFK Jr.’s wife, Cheryl Hines, revealed that her husband is only eating meat and fermented vegetables – and now, health experts have weighed in on the Secretary of Health and Human Services’ ‘harmful’ diet.
Hines shared the information during an appearance on Katie Miller’s podcastthe wife of top Trump adviser Stephen Miller, this week, while also detailing his sauerkraut obsession.
Now, nutritionists have spoken with the Daily Mail about the potential dangers of RFK Jr.’s eating habits.
‘Though steak and sauerkraut both have their own merits – steak being a very good source of high-quality protein, iron, zinc, and B vitamins (particularly B12), and sauerkraut being a source of probiotics and vitamin C – together, they do not have the variability to sustain health over time,’ Eduardo Oliver, nutrition coach and CEO of Tribe Organicswarned.
‘This diet eliminates major food groups, such as fruits, whole grains, legumes and beneficial fats, all of which supply fiber, antioxidants, and essential micronutrients that support heart, brain, and digestive function,’ Oliver continued.
‘Over the long haul, the imbalance can impair metabolic function, digestive regularity, and even immune function.’
Oliver told the Daily Mail that if RFK Jr. chooses to continue this diet, it could pose a long list of potential health risks, such as high cholesterol and heart disease.
‘Consuming red meat as a staple food can increase saturated fat consumption, which elevates LDL cholesterol levels and contributes to heart disease risk,’ the herbal supplement expert said.

‘A diet devoid of plant fiber can also slow down digestion and alter the gut microbiome in manners that increase inflammation and colon cancer risk,’ he added.
Oliver also shared that although sauerkraut can be beneficial to your gut due to its ‘good bacteria,’ it can also lead to high blood pressure when ‘consumed in large amounts.’
‘The absence of vital nutrients such as calcium (for bone health), omega-3 fatty acids (for cardiovascular and brain health), and phytonutrients (which fight oxidative stress) would also be concerning,’ he said.
While it may not be too smart to rely on meat and fermented vegetables alone, the CEO said that both foods do have some healthy aspects to them when eaten along with a regular healthy diet.
Oliver noted that the high protein levels in steak can ‘be satiating and spare muscle mass, which is beneficial for metabolism,’ while fermented foods are good for the gut.
‘The diet is also very low in refined carbohydrates, which can steady blood sugar levels in the short term,’ he explained.
But still, the negatives seem to outweigh any benefits here.
‘These advantages quickly level off or even reverse, however, when the diet is this limited over extended periods of time, since the lack of variety eventually proves harmful to general health,’ Oliver said.

‘What that looks like is, in the morning at 6.30am, he’s cooking a steak and eating sauerkraut,’ Hines told Miller of her husband’s diet
Lisa Moskovitz, RD, CEO of NY Nutrition Group and author of The Core 3 Healthy Eating Plan, seemed to agree, as she noted that one of the biggest concerns is whether this diet is for the long or short-term.
‘The biggest concern is how sustainable this is long-term and what it will do for his relationship with food. Further, there are key nutrients he is at risk of not consuming enough of including calcium, vitamin D, omega-3 and magnesium,’ Moskovitz told the Daily Mail exclusively.
‘Short-term, as long as he’s eating high quality steak and a variety of fermented vegetables, he may be able to get away with it in terms of energy, health and blood work,’ Moskovitz said.
Ultimately, the experts warned that no one should use this diet long-term.
‘I would absolutely not recommend this diet to anyone. It is restrictive and does not provide an assortment of essential macro and micronutrients for optimal health,’ Moskovitz said.
Oliver told Daily Mail that RFK Jr. should introduce lean meats like ‘fish and poultry’ to his daily diet, as well as other vegetables like lentils and beans for ‘fiber and magnesium.’
‘The inclusion of a variety of colorful vegetables and fruits would add antioxidants, vitamins A and K, and potassium, all of which are vital for cardiovascular and cellular well-being,’ Oliver explained.
‘The addition of whole grains like quinoa or brown rice would provide slow-release energy, and healthy fats in the form of olive oil, nuts, seeds, and avocado would support hormone and brain function.’

The former Curb Your Enthusiasm star also divulged that since RFK Jr. is so dedicated to this diet, he brings his own sauerkraut with him when they go out to dinner.
‘I’ll have my little clutch, one of my good bags that I only take out every once in a while, because I want to keep them nice and he’ll hand me a bag of sauerkraut and say, “Can you put this in your bag?”‘ Hines said.
Though, Hines has refused the ask when she’s carrying a nice purse.
‘I’m going to give this bag to one of my daughters when I die, this is not a sauerkraut bag,’ Hines said of what she has responded to her husband.
‘If you tell me ahead of time, I can bring a sauerkraut bag,’ she said. ‘So when I walk in, people say, “eww, what’s that smell?” Don’t worry about it, it’s my husband’s dinner.’
Hines’ confession about her husband comes just days after the couple were praised for flying economy.
The duo were filmed sitting in a window and middle seat on board the American Airlines flight and the footage was later shared to TikTok.
The couple appeared to be departing from Washington. It is unclear where the flight was headed.
In the video, RFK Jr. wore a suit and tie while Hines appeared more relaxed in a gray sweater, fiddling with her earphones before takeoff.
The pair had been escorted onto the flight separately, and the video caught the moment RFK Jr. chatted with a security guard as he wheeled his bag onto the plane.
