Meet Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Faster, Smarter, and Efficient

Qualcomm has announced its newest chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5which will power many upcoming high-end Android smartphones. This chip is the fifth generation in Qualcomm’s premium 8-series, following earlier versions released every year since 2021.

The new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is manufactured using advanced 3nm technology, which makes it faster and more energy-efficient. It features a new CPU, the third-generation Oryon, which includes 2 powerful “Prime” cores that run up to 4.6GHz and 6 “Performance” cores that run up to 3.62GHz. Qualcomm says this chip is 20% faster and uses 35% less power than the previous model.

The graphics part, known as the Adreno GPU, also got a big upgrade. It’s now 23% faster and uses 20% less power, so games and videos will look better and run more smoothly. There’s also a special new memory feature that helps games respond quickly and save battery.

For video, this chip supports Android 16’s Advanced Professional Video for very high-quality video recording with almost no loss in detail. Qualcomm also introduced Dragon Fusion, a special technology that makes videos look clear and colorful, even in tough lighting.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a big focus this time. The chip’s Hexagon NPU, which handles AI tasks, is 37% faster and more efficient to help phones run smarter features.

The new Snapdragon also improves sound with Snapdragon Audio Sense, offering features like wind noise reduction and audio zoom. It makes phone microphones better without needing extra equipment.

Many top phone makers like Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, and more will use this chip. The first phones with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 will come out very soon. Stay tuned for more information.
