Samsung recently started rolling out the One UI 8 stable update, and Galaxy fans are already talking about what’s coming next – One UI 8.5. Recent leaks and early images show that Samsung might be planning a fresh new look for its software, possibly inspired by Apple’s iOS 26 design.
Leaked screenshots of One UI 8.5 show some interesting changes in the Settings app. The back button now appears to float above the interface with a soft shadow, closely resembling the minimalist, layered design language seen in iOS 26. Also, the boxes in the settings menu have shadows and a light gradient, making them look like they are slightly floating too.
A well-known Samsung tipster, @UniverseIce, said that Samsung seems to be taking design more seriously with One UI 8.5. The glass effect is becoming a big trend in smartphone design, and it’s good to see Samsung adopting it as long as it doesn’t make the screen harder to read.
The glass effect makes parts of the screen look like frosted glass, slightly see-through, with blur and shadows. It adds depth and a stylish feel to the interface. If these leaks are true, One UI 8.5 could bring a big visual update.
One UI 8.5 will be based on Android 16, and it will reportedly debut with the Galaxy S26 series. This new series seems to include three models: Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. It is expected to launch in January 2025. Stay tuned for more information.
