The first direct evidence confirming Einsteins hypothesis of the curvature of space-time

Scientists studied what was happening around the star AT2020afhd, a stellar tidal disturbance captured by a supermassive black hole, which formed a bright disk of stellar remains and ejected powerful streams of matter at nearly the speed of light.

The team observed rhythmic changes in the radio signals and X-rays emanating from the destroyed star, with oscillations repeated every 20 days. The accretion disk — made up of shredded star debris — and the jet emanating from it moved in sync, as if they were one entity.

These coordinated oscillations showed that the rotating black hole affects the space-time surrounding it, creating what is known as… Torsion effect (traction tire). Dr. Cosimo Inserra from Cardiff University pointed out that observing this unusual dynamic opens a new way to study the behavior of rotating black holes and the mechanisms through which they eject matter into space.

The research was conducted based on data from NASA’s Swift Observatory and VLAR telescope, and analysis of spectral characteristics demonstrated the theoretically expected effects of space-time distortion.

Dr. Inserra stressed the importance of the discovery for understanding the nature of the dynamic processes in the vicinity of black holes and the prospects for the development of astrophysics, pointing out the rarity of this phenomenon and the importance of direct confirmation of general relativity models. The research is the first direct evidence of the phenomenon “Linzi-Thering ataxia”which was previously confirmed only indirectly.
