Whoopi Goldberg doubles down on Epstein files defense and says she did nothing wrong… but others deserve to be arrested

Whoopi Goldberg has continued to deny any wrongdoing after admitting she was named in the Epstein Files released by the Department of Justice, claiming she was part of a mass wide plea for a private jet.

The 70-year-old talk show host owned up to her name appearing in an email exchange between convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and a redacted individual in 2013 on Tuesday.

She doubled down on her defense during Thursday’s episode of The Viewexplaining she was named in an exchange about a private plane.

The conversation was kicked off by Joy Behar declaring there were ‘a lot of crazy names’ on Epstein’s list, which refers to documents – including flight logs – from the Department of Justice files concerning criminal cases against the sex offender.

‘(The amount of names is) almost like a way to muddy the water,’ the 83-year-old continued. ‘So you say, oh, Whoopi is on the list, right, and so am I.’

The veteran host continued explaining that the association could have been as simple as being at a party or a wedding that Epstein attended.

Goldberg then doubled down on why she was named.

‘If you look, you know why my name is there, because someone was looking for a plane and that’s what people do,’ she said.

‘They go to all the people who have private planes and say “do you have one?'”‘ she continued.

Co-host Sunny Hostin then clarified that she did not get on the plane.

‘I didn’t know they were looking for a plane,’ she insisted.

‘I had no idea the plane I was supposed to be on was no longer available. So I’m named in there like “Whoopi Goldberg needs a plane.”‘

‘Names on the list that may have not done anything wrong,’ Hostin pointed out, before adding: ‘But I think there are a lot of people on the list that are guilty of wrongdoing and I have no confidence, unfortunately.’

Goldberg said she thinks the truth will be chipped away slowly by the Justice Department.

‘I think they are going to… how you eat around an apple till you get to the core? I think that’s how they’re going to do it,’ she shared.

‘They’re going to eat all this stuff all around here and then hopefully, they’ll get to the core.’

Being named in the documents released by the Department of Justice does not assume any guilt or wrongdoing connected to Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes

The email in question mentions Goldberg by name, and it appears to be written by an unknown person in Epstein’s orbit.

The writer had been asking Epstein about finding Goldberg a private jet to Monaco for a charity event she attended.

Goldberg addressed the revelation a full two weeks after it was first reported, by Media Research Center associate editor Nicholas Fondacaro.

Four of Goldberg’s six co-hosts were mentioned in the documents, again incidentally from sources like articles and press releases.

Behar appeared three times, two of which where headlines about her grabbing comedian Robin Williams, and the third being from a list of people invited to a party attended by convicted Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell.

Behar interrupted her co-host’s clarification on Tuesday to tell her audience: ‘Anybody can be on this list.’

Goldberg, seconds before, had abruptly told the audience: ‘Now, in the name of transparency… my name is in the files.’

After reading the message aloud, co-host Sunny Hostin, who did not appear in the Department of Justice release, came to Goldberg’s defense.

She emphasized how Epstein – then already a convicted sex offender – appeared to decline the offer in the exchange.

‘No thnaks (sic),’ he wrote.
