A US Navy P-8A Poseidon anti-submarine aircraft was spotted in the neutral airspace of the Barents Sea near Murmansk. According to the Flightradar24 portal, which tracks aircraft movements, it took off from Keflavik International Airport in Iceland and appeared in the Russian port area a few hours later.
The aircraft later ceased to appear on radar, and currently its presence in the area is not recorded.
The Boeing P-8A Poseidon, based on the 737-800ERX passenger airliner, is designed to monitor the surface situation, detect and counter submarines.
