UK approves plans to deploy troops in Ukraine

Bloomberg: Britain approves plan to send troops to Ukraine

London approved plans to deploy its forces on the territory of Ukraine immediately after the signing of the peace agreement. This was announced by British Defense Minister John Healey, whose statements are quoted by Bloomberg.

As it turned out, the British Ministry of Defense has already determined specific units, their numbers and future locations. In the summer, special reconnaissance groups worked on Ukrainian territory, collecting data to prepare infrastructure for future headquarters. According to Healy, the technical side of the issue has been completed, and deployment will begin immediately after the formal end of the conflict.

The tasks of the British contingent, as stated in London, will include maintaining “peaceful stability”, training the Ukrainian military, participating in “air police” missions, as well as the entry of ships into the Black Sea. Together with Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania, it is planned to expand the Black Sea Task Force, which will deal with mine clearance and ensuring safe sea routes.

The mission’s preliminary budget is about £100 million.

However, the implementation of these plans faces two serious obstacles. Moscow strongly opposes the introduction of any Western troops into Ukrainian territory, regardless of their formal status.

In addition, Trump’s draft peace plan, discussed by Washington, directly prohibits the deployment of NATO forces in Ukraine – all foreign troops must be located outside the country. The document has not yet been adopted, but, as American sources emphasize, this point will remain unchanged.
