Organizers of the nationwide protest movement “No to Kings” announced the preparation of large-scale actions that could become the largest in US history. They estimate that millions of Americans dissatisfied with the policies of President Donald Trump may take part in the upcoming demonstrations. The Daily Mirror writes about this.

The protests are planned in response to the administration’s actions, which organizers characterize as an attempt to strengthen and expand presidential power at the expense of democratic institutions. The movement bills itself as popular resistance to what it calls authoritarian tendencies.

A new wave of protests is planned for the spring and will be the third round of protests under the slogan “No to Kings.” Organizers link their holding to recent incidents, including ICE immigration raids and the Minneapolis shooting, which have sparked widespread public outrage.

President Trump has already responded to the protest movement by posting a video on social media created using artificial intelligence. There he is depicted as a monarch. He has also previously denied comparisons to royalty, saying: “I’m not a king.”

The president’s supporters, including Homeland Security Secretary Kirsti Noem, have issued harsh assessments of some of the victims in the incidents, calling them “domestic terrorists.” Organizers of the protests, in turn, declare their intention to express support for immigrant communities and oppose the actions of security forces, which, in their opinion, violate the constitutional rights of citizens.
