Savannah Guthrie issues cutting response after fan exposes her real hair color live on Today show

Savannah Guthrie was left red-faced after her natural hair color was exposed by a fan live on the Today show.

The 53-year-old anchor had been presenting Wednesday’s episode from the 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City when she came face-to-face with an old headshot taken in the nineties.

Co-host Craig Melvin was first to spot the picture in the crowd, which had been brought from longtime fan, Carol.

Approaching the guest, he asked: ‘Where did you find this picture?’

‘Found it online,’ she responded.

Savannah awkwardly walked over to inspect the image which had been snapped from her days at the local station KVOA in Tucson, Arizona, but was clearly less enthused.

In the picture, she could be seen sporting a jet-black coiffed bob as she reported on the Olympics.

‘Well, welcome!’ Savannah joked as she then attempted to hide the picture with her hands.

‘I don’t think we need to see that!’ she giggled to which Craig retorted, ‘I disagree.’

Explaining the hairdo, she said: ‘It was very ’90s.’

‘I think I tried the Rachel,’ she added, referring to Jennifer Aniston’s Rachel Green haircut from the beloved sitcom Friends.

‘Thank you for coming,’ Savannah told Carol as she began to walk away. ‘Now we can burn that.’

These days, mom-of-two Savannah is better known for having brunette hair with blonde highlights.

Savannah spent five years in Tucson working with NBC affiliate KVOA from 1995 before moving to Washington, D.C., with WRC-TV.

She eventually joined NBC News as a correspondent in September 2007 before becoming a Today show co-anchor in 2011.

In July, Daily Mail named Savannah as the morning show style queen thanks to her ‘professional, yet approachable’ looks.

‘Savannah’s style is professional, yet approachable, has personality, and doesn’t feel as tired as the expected jeweled tone shift dress that most people in news tend to gravitate towards,’ fashion guru Liz Teich, who runs The New York Stylist, said.

‘She keeps it classic, yet still trend forward (never trendy), tailored, as well as isn’t afraid of unexpected color or patterns.’

‘Savannah’s style exudes her confidence in her position on TV, as she doesn’t feel the need to dress like every other anchor,’ she concluded.

Meanwhile, Today show legend Al Roker, topped the inaugural list, sweeping the board in every category for morning show hosts.

The genial New Yorker, who has been with NBC since 1978, is seen as the most likable of the 15 main breakfast show hosts included in our exclusive polling, carried out by J.L. Partners.

Al, 70, is also the most fun, truthful, knowledgeable, least biased, and the host that those polled most wanted to spend time with.
