Samsung’s One UI 8.5 to supercharge Routines with Gemini AI and Bixby

Samsung is reportedly preparing to release One UI 8.5, which will introduce new features and a fresh design. After releasing One UI 8 for the Galaxy S25 series, Samsung is now working on small but smart changes to make your phone easier and more fun to use. New information reveals new Gemini and Bixby features that could come with One UI 8.5.

With One UI 8.5, Samsung will reportedly update the Modes and Routines section. This is where you can set up actions that your phone does automatically, like turning on Wi-Fi when you get home. The new leak design looks cleaner, using Google’s Material 3 style.

Additionally, a floating menu is located at the bottom of the screen, and a Discover tab is available, highlighting new features with a small orange dot. The most exciting feature added is support for Ask Bixby and Ask Gemini actions. This means you can now add Bixby or Google’s Gemini AI to your routines.

For example, you can ask Bixby to call someone, turn on the lights, disable some settings, or read your schedule. Gemini works more like a smart helper for answering questions, giving you info when you need it.

These new options make routines more powerful. You don’t just set your phone to do tasks, as now it can also think and respond using AI. And when used with Samsung’s Routines+ app, you can create even smarter actions, like combining voice commands with screen taps.

One UI 8.5 may not be a huge update, but it adds helpful tools that make your phone smarter and more personal. This new update is expected to debut with the upcoming Galaxy S26 series smartphones.
