Samsung SmartThings gets new safety button and car connectivity

Samsung has added new features to its SmartThings app to help keep people safe and make it easier to control their cars. With new safety tools and the ability to control your car from your phone, SmartThings is becoming even more helpful for families and drivers alike.

The new feature, SmartThings Safe, is made for people who want extra safety, like those living alone or older adults. If you feel in danger or need help, you just press a special button on your phone or tablet.

This safety button sends your location and time to your family or friends who are set up in the app. They will get a message on their phones, tablets, TVs, or even Samsung’s smart refrigerators.

Samsung also teamed up with Hyundai Motor Group to bring a new Home-to-Car feature. It connects your Hyundai, Kia, or Genesis car to the SmartThings app. With this, you can check your car’s condition and control things like air conditioning, locking and unlocking doors, starting the engine, or charging your electric car, all from your phone.

You can even create automatic actions, like turning on the car’s air conditioner when you leave your house on a hot day. This feature starts in Korea and will come to other countries soon.

Samsung also adds the Home Life feature, which gives you helpful suggestions based on your family’s needs. For example, if you have pets, it might suggest pet care tips. If you like cooking, it can suggest useful kitchen routines.

Samsung also improved customer support by letting you check your device’s health and request repairs right from the app. Also, the SmartThings app for Windows computers got a new look to make it easier to use on bigger screens.
