Samsung is promoting the official One UI 8 rollout for the Galaxy S25, and it seems that the company is taking this opportunity to highlight the Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 devices instead of the flagship S-series.
Earlier today, the phone maker pushed the stable One UI 8 software update for the Galaxy S25 devices, including the S25 Edge. However, this activity is limited to the Korean market, while an expansion is expected this week.
Samsung was too focused on promoting the newest foldables that it also brought the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 in its press release, in place of the Galaxy S25 Ultra or its sibling. Moreover, the majority of the features and visuals showcased in the official announcement are based on these foldables.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 were launched in early July, making them the first-ever in the Galaxy ecosystem to launch the fastest Android version. For your information, these are also the first to feature Android 16 (One UI 8).
We noted a strange phenomenon that month: the third beta entered a hiatus for almost a month during the Fold 7 and Flip 7 launch phase, adding a delay in the official release.
You can overlook the fact that Samsung has the right to promote its new products the way it wants, but neglecting the importance of the existing S-series flagship, which sells many times the units compared to the Foldable devices, is a silly decision.

One UI 8 for Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7
SF’s Take
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 are amazing devices, but such an announcement should have been context-driven and not for promoting some product. For example, the company has already delayed the new update for months, and Fold7/Flip7 are already out in the market with One UI 8 as its key highlight.
Furthermore, due to the foldables, Samsung hasn’t mentioned key additions such as adaptive clock design, subtle UI upgrades, Dex improvements, and other upgrades.
Samsung should’ve been promoting One UI 8 with a priority to the existing flagship, instead of only focusing on newly released devices. A better way to conduct these tasks would be to mix these device types to reach existing and new users.
