Russian experts improve the accuracy of antennas assigned to satellites

The company said in a statement on the matter: “The specialists at the Reshetnyov Company (affiliated with the Roscosmos Foundation) applied new engineering solutions and manufactured an experimental model of a reflective antenna in the form of a parabola from locally made composite materials. They tested it and confirmed that the product conformed to the specified technical requirements.”

For its part, the Roscosmos Foundation indicated that the tests conducted on the new antenna model showed that the reflection of electromagnetic radiation in it reached at least 99% in the radio frequency range with an intensity of up to 70 GHz, and that the amount of deviation in the shape of the reflector’s surface did not exceed 80 microns.

These antennas are usually used to receive and transmit signals in wireless communications systems, and use curved surfaces in the form of a parabola to direct and focus radio waves with high accuracy. These antennas are also used in satellites and in ground stations that receive signals from them, and with spacecraft and radar systems.
