Quick Share’s fullscreen makeover is hitting more Android phones now

Google is updating Quick Share with a major new look, and it’s now available to more users. The app’s fullscreen redesign replaces the old bottom-sheet layout with a two-tab interfacemaking it feel less like a background utility.

When you open Quick Share from Quick Settings, the system share menu, or Files by Google, you now see two options at the bottom: Send and Receive. This update has been in development for months, with early signs appearing in Apriland it’s finally reaching more devices, as per 9to5Google.

The updated Receive tab highlights your device name and makes it briefly visible, so people nearby can send you files. During a transfer, you see a live progress bar, and when it finishes, you get shortcuts to your downloads or Google Photos. There’s also a new profile picture option for easier identification, plus visibility settings that let you choose who can see your device: contacts, your own devices, or everyone for 10 minutes. This is less strict than before.

The Send tab now makes sharing files easier. Quick Share has its own file picker, so you can select and preview several files of different types at once. After that, you’ll see your devices and nearby ones in a grid, along with a QR code option for fast pairing.

Fresh settings page with Material You flair

Beyond the core tabs, the update also brings a new settings page (see gallery above) with a Material You design, simpler toggles, and easier ways to control who can see your device. It’s becoming clear that Google is making Quick Share feel more like a full app instead of just a basic tool.

The fullscreen redesign is now appearing on more Android phones via a server-side update, with Google Play services version 25.37.31 or newer being a requirement. Samsung users running beta builds got an early taste, but the update is expanding much more broadly now.
