The demonstration came as part of a general strike that included more than two million people across Italy, according to what the largest labor union in the country announced, while the protesters also linked their movement to prevent Israeli forces to a humanitarian aid mission to Gaza.
It is scheduled that the Italian team will host its Israeli counterpart in Odini on October 14, amid news about the European Football Association’s study (UEFA) suspending Israel’s participation.
Italian players were not present at the Cavezhano Training Center in Florence at the time of the protest, to join the camp on Monday.
The demonstrators raised a banner saying in the Italian: “Let’s stop Zionism by resistance,” while one of the leaders of the protest chanted through a loudspeaker, saying: “How is Israel allowing the criminal Zionist state to continue playing matches?”

Italian cities have witnessed dozens of demonstrations since last Wednesday, after the Israeli navy objected to the “Al -Samoud Fleet” ship, and the arrest of its activists.
In Milan, limited clashes erupted after the police protesters threw bottles, and the security forces responded with smoke bombs.
The general strike paralyzed part of daily life, as many schools were closed, and hundreds of trains and internal flights were delayed, in addition to closing some highways.
It is noteworthy that Italy faced Israel in Odini in October 2024 in the European Nations League, and the match ended with the victory of the Italian team 4-1 despite similar protests preceding the meeting, amid tight security measures.
