One UI 8 Watch Beta Program may not launch for Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 5

Samsung announced in June that its One UI 8 Watch Beta will launch for the Galaxy Watch 7, Watch 6, and Watch 5 series. The Beta Program was launched for the Watch 7 and Watch Ultra, but there are still no words for the older models.

Galaxy Watch Ultra quickly received the Stable update following the launch of the Watch Ultra (2025). Samsung continued the Beta Program for the Galaxy Watch 7, with the most recent Beta version released last week.

We’re in mid-September, and Samsung has yet to release a Stable update for the Galaxy Watch 7 users. Meanwhile, the owners of Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 5 are more disappointed given Samsung’s silence on the Beta Program.

It seems Samsung no longer plans to release the One UI 8 Watch Beta update for the Galaxy Watch 6, Watch 6 Classic, Watch 5, and Watch 5 Pro. Instead, users of these models may directly grab the Stable update, probably next month.

The Korean tech giant is conducting tests on the official One UI 8 Watch builds. Multiple smartwatches are internally running the public version. As it’s already late, skipping the Beta Program entirely isn’t a bad move.

Samsung has started the official One UI 8 rollout for the Galaxy S25 series. More devices will get it next week and throughout the next month. We anticipate the smartwatch segment will also see its OS switch in October 2025.

One UI 8 Watch introduces a tweaked user interface and smoother animations. It debuts a new tile system that aims to enhance usability and accessibility. It also has core improvements for performance and battery life.
