KFC Australia is set to launch a secret pop-up restaurant in an abandoned train station tunnel – featuring revived menu items from the 80s.

To celebrate the final season of Stranger Things on Netflixthe fast food giant is taking Aussie fans on a mind-bending journey straight to the heart of Hawkins, Indiana.

Diners will descend into the Upside Down with the opening of the world’s first subterranean KFC, ‘Hawkins Fried Chicken’, on November 28 and 29 from 12pm – with free entry and free menu items, including the new Upside Down Doubles.

The new burger features two of KFC’s iconic Original Crispy fillets, sandwiching a soft bun in the middle, layered with crispy bacon, cheese, and a generous serving of Stranger Sauce.

The pop-up restaurant, nestled deep within Sydney‘s abandoned Wynyard Station Tunnels, will serve Original Recipe Chicken buckets, new Saucy Wings from KFC’s secret menu.

What makes the event even more special is that KFC is reviving beloved 80s menu items – including The Works Burger and 80s Bean Salad.

Stepping into Hawkins Fried Chicken will be like walking through a rift in time and space.

Guests will journey through an immersive Stranger Things tunnel and experience a meticulously recreated 80s diner straight from the town of Hawkins, just as it would have looked in 1987.

The air will hum with classic 80s tunes from a vintage jukebox, arcade games will beckon, and every detail will transport you directly into the heart of the show.

But if you can’t make it to Hawkins Fried Chicken in Sydney, don’t worry.

The new Upside Down Double will be rolling out into all restaurants nationwide from December 2 – but for a limited time only.

Hawkins Fried Chicken is located in Wynyard Station. Follow the signs and enter Wynyard Station via the Carrington St entrance at Wynyard Park.

Head down the escalators to find Hawkins Fried Chicken via a nondescript door across from Coles Central Wynyard Express.

Proceeds from merchandise sales will go directly to the KFC Youth Foundation, which supports youth mental health and wellbeing through its charity partners, ReachOut Australia and Black Dog Institute.
