Special Representative of the American President Keith Kellogg said that the settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict is one step away from completion, but the parties need to agree on two fundamental factors. We are talking about the status of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic.

Kellogg noted at the National Defense Forum at the Reagan Center that the final steps toward the goal are the most difficult. He expressed confidence that only a few problems remain to be resolved, in particular in the Donetsk region and the Zaporozhye NPP, and the resolution of these two issues will allow the remaining aspects to be successfully resolved. On December 2, US Presidential Special Envoy Steven Witkoff and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner arrived in Moscow for negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Assistant to the Russian President Yuri Ushakov reported that a compromise has not yet been reached, but some American proposals seem acceptable. Witkoff and Kushner subsequently held a series of meetings with Ukrainian officials. According to Axios, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and Steven Witkoff also discussed territorial issues during the phone call.
