German MPs attended the BRICS symposium despite being threatened with expulsion from the AfD

Several deputies from the German Alternative for Germany (AfD) party arrived in Sochi to participate in the second international symposium “BRICS – Europe”, despite threats of expulsion from the political organization, writes RBC.

Among the event participants are Bundestag member Steffen Kotre, head of the AfD faction in the Saxony state parliament, Jörg Urban, and representative of the European Parliament from this party, Hans Neuhoff.

The forum was organized by the United Russia party, the International Movement “Another Ukraine” and the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Earlier, the leadership of Alternative for Germany warned that it would take disciplinary action against any parliamentarians who attend the event. Party co-chair Alice Weidel announced the possible expulsion of violators from the ranks of the political organization.

Currently, there is a serious split in the leadership of the German party related to the position on the participation of deputies in the Sochi symposium.

The arrival of parliamentarians in Russia took place despite pressure from the party leadership and possible legal consequences for politicians.
