These things have remained consistent in the past four generations and stay visible in the fifth installment. So, here are some of the segments that are key to the FE’s uprising and differentiate between its past and present.

Display

The Galaxy S20 FE uses a 6.5-inch flat Super AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The center hole-punch design has enabled a unique look to the front with adequate bezels providing a new screen option in the main lineup, but the chin was highly visible.

The Galaxy S25 FE has increased the display size to 6.7 inches with a Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology and a 120Hz refresh rate. The overall content quality is improved with Vision Booster. Compared to the first generation, the new FE model has a crisper screen with a higher screen-to-body ratio thanks to the thin bezels that compete with the Galaxy S25 Edge.

Design

That said, the new phone has more power and better cooling tech.

Camera

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE features a 12MP ultra-wide angle camera with f/2.2 aperture and 123-degree field of view. It has a 12MP wide-angle with f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization. The third was an 8MP 3x telephoto with f/2.4 aperture and 32-degree field of view.

Software

The Galaxy S20 FE was unveiled with Android 10 (One UI 2.5) out of the box; the hardware composition of this phone enables a fluid user experience.

It had a pact for receiving three major OS updates and four years of security patches, which later expanded to five years. The phone is currently running Android 13, and it’s still part of the security patch program, while the main lineup is excluded.

Over these years, Samsung has greatly improved its software policy, and FE phones have been one of the biggest beneficiaries of this important improvement. The new phone offers Android 16 (One UI 8) from day one alongside seven OS upgrades and seven years of security updates.

Furthermore, the new chipset enabled the phone to run generative AI features, which wasn’t the case with the first FE smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE launched at $699, and now, its half-decade new successor costs $649. So, the new phone is not only slimmer, aesthetically rich, faster, durable, and stronger, but also price-efficient.
