China launches the worlds first factory to produce joints for robots

According to the newspaper, the new factory in Shanghai can produce up to 100,000 joints annually, and this production capacity can be increased three-fold in the future. The company provided calculations indicating that the cost of joints constitutes approximately half the cost of a single robot.

The newspaper added that the company aims, by expanding production, to consolidate its position in the market by the time human robots are widely available for sale.

Chinese engineers reported in an article published in Science Advances magazine that they had developed a new type of limb for human-like robots, similar in terms of its construction principles to the bones of human legs.

However, Chinese scientists pointed out that hundreds of scientific and engineering teams around the world are currently working on developing advanced human-like robots.

The South China Morning Post reported at the end of last year that China had begun integrating humanoid robots into production lines.
