An intriguing match awaits, especially as it seems like you never know what you’re going to get with these two.

That’s become obvious with United – who are looking to win consecutive Premier League matches for the first time under Amorim – though it seems the case with Brentford too, with the Bees losing heavily away last week despite putting in an encouraging performance against Chelsea at home a fortnight ago.

Manchester United are winless in their last seven away Premier League matches (D2 L5) since a 3-0 win at Leicester in March. The Red Devils last had a longer run without an away win between March and October 2019 (eight games).

Brentford have conceded 10 goals in their five Premier League games this season, their most at this stage of a league season since 2003/04 in the third tier (also 10). Only Burnley (95) have faced more shots in 2025/26 than the Bees (70).

United have had the most shots in the Premier League this season (81), while Brentford have had the fewest (41).

New Brentford boss Keith Andrews said United have “a very talented set of players and a very defined way of playing the game”, before adding that he is “ looking forward to getting back on home soil tomorrow”.

“We are forming a new team. There’s been a lot of change at the football club, myself included. We’re making steps, and sometimes those steps aren’t in the direction we want. I think you have to accept that. You have to understand that.

“It’s really important for me to maintain the type of environment that’s been created here, where players can develop. We put internal pressure on ourselves. We don’t particularly need the external pressure to fuel anything from within. I think there’s that intrinsic motivation as an individual and all to be collectively, to be the best versions of ourselves. And that’s not always going to be perfect.”

“These kind of games we need to be focused and have the feeling we will win every match,” said Ruben Amorim in his press conference.

“It is really important and we talk about that in the end of the game. It is important to have that sense of urgency that we need to win no matter what. Every time you start to watch the next opponent you feel it is going to be really tough. The most important is to start the way we start against Burnley and Arsenal.

“It is normal for the fans not to know what is going to happen. I have an idea but I don’t know, so the best way of dealing with that is that every game is the last one. We think the next game is going to be really important in a long time for Manchester United.”

These two teams have met 21 times in the past, with their first game taking place in 1928. Interestingly, they did not face either other a single time between 1975 and 2022!

United have won 11 and lost seven of the previous games, with three finishing as draws.

Last season, United lost this fixture 4-3, having won the home match 2-1.

The Bees have only won one of their last five matches, and that came against Bournemouth in the League Cup.

Since then, the hosts have lost to newly promoted Sunderland alongside a heavy loss to Fulham last week, though they were improved in the draw to Chelsea a fortnight ago.

United have won two of their last five games, beating Burnley and Chelsea either side of a heavy loss to City in the derby a fortnight ago.

Before that, the Red Devils drew to both Grimsby (eventually losing on penalties) in the League Cup and Fulham in the league.

Brentford have won two of their last three home Premier League games against Manchester United (D1), as many as their first six home league matches versus the Red Devils beforehand (W2 D1 L3).

Since Manchester United won 3-1 away at Brentford in January 2022, the home team has won six of the last seven Premier League meetings between Brentford and Man Utd (D1).

Ruben amorim has said it would be “massive” for Manchester United to win two consecutive league games for the first time in his reign and told his team it will be a “big problem” if they don’t understand they have the chance to finally get some momentum.

Amorim sees this as an opportunity to go on the right kind of run, saying: “I think it’s going to be massive for us, so it’s massive to win this game. If we as a team, if we don’t understand the momentum now, we have a big problem.

Brentford boss Keith Andrews makes two changes to the side that lost 3-1 to Fulham last time out. In defence, Ethan Pinnock and Keane Lewis-Potter make way, as Aaron Hickey comes in at right-back and the Bees move to a back four.

Dango Ouattara replaces Pinnock, with the club’s record signing forming part of a front three for the hosts.
