Prisa Nasrallahi, from the sales team at the developing company, explained that work on developing this system began in 2006, noting that the system provides an independent planning platform, a compact design that occupies a limited space inside the operating room, in addition to a dedicated screen for the surgeon and adjustable arms that cover a wide surgical area.
She explained that the system’s working mechanism is similar to GPS systems, as it works as an intelligent assistant in delicate operations, and calculates the location of surgical tools during the operation and displays them immediately on dedicated screens.
She pointed out that the device is mounted on the patient’s head inside the operating room, and determines the safest and least risky path to reach the targeted tumor or lesion, which reduces potential complications, especially in sensitive operations such as removing brain tumors, transnasal skull base surgeries, brain biopsies, and cerebrospinal fluid diversion operations.
The company confirmed that it is the only producer of this type of device in Iran, and that the price of the system is about half the price of similar foreign models, in addition to its use in training medical students and resident doctors.
According to the announced data, 180 surgeons use this system in 120 hospitals, as part of a trend to enhance self-sufficiency in advanced medical technologies and reduce dependence on high-cost imported systems.
